Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1910 as private symphony orchestra,
in 1949 it earned a "State Philharmonic" status that has been maintained ever since. The Orchestra
has hosted national and foreign world-famous conductors and soloists from the Europe, Asia and
America - Igor Oistrach, Vassil Kazandjiev,Pancho Wladigeroff, Rodentor Romero,Milena Mollova, Michel Bussinot,
Medeya Abramyan, Emil Gillels and many others.
An annual festival of Cantata-Oratorio Music "Konstantin Iliev" is held ever since 1983;
also a festival featuring young, prize-winning performers; master classes for conductors and performers.
The Orchestra has been holding concerts in Germany, France, Serbia, Russia, Spain,Switzerland ,
Netherlands (also participation in international competition under the aegis of Hose Careras) and others.
